Millie Tillis Kimbro Simmons, 69, of Palatka, passed from this life peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016 at her home following an extended illness. A native of Palatka, Millie was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. She graduated from Palatka Senior High School and from the Daytona Beach School of Cosmetology in 1967. A beautician, Millie owned and operated Millie’s Magic Mirror in Palatka for nearly 30 years. In her leisure, Millie loved the beach, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert R. Tillis and Flara Burney Tillis as well as her brother, Mitchell Johnson.
Millie is survived by her husband of 3 years, Michael L. Simmons of Palatka, a son, Michael Kimbro and his wife Heidi of Oak Ridge, TN, grandsons, Blade Kimbro and Chase Kimbro of Oak Ridge, TN, step-sons, Kyle Simmons and Kevin Simmons of Canton, NC, step-grandson, Colton Simmons of Canton, NC, a brother Albert Tillis and wife Sandra of Palatka and a sister Virginia McHargue of Harlem, FL.
Services celebrating Millie’s life will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Rev. Eddie Parcher and Chaplain Jakie Carmicle officiating. Burial will follow at Etoniah Cemetery in Bardin. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
The family would also like to invite friends to come by and visit in the evenings at Millie’s home during this week until the public visitation on Friday.
