Obituary for Bettie Halle
Bettie Joyce Halle, 80, of Palatka, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness. Born in Porterdale, Georgia, Bettie was raised in the Miami area and graduated from South Dade High School in 1954. She moved from Homestead, FL to Putnam County in the mid 1950’s and worked for a short period of time at Hudson Pulp & Paper Company where she met her husband, Holland. Joyce worked in the Putnam County School System as a cafeteria worker at Moseley Elementary School from 1965-1969 and at Silver Lake Elementary (Kelley Smith Elementary) as a teacher aide and library aide from 1973-1997 when she retired. Bettie then worked for 26 years at Wal-Mart in Palatka. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing and gardening and attending her sons’ baseball games over the years. Joyce was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Holland Woodworth Halle.
Bettie is survived by 2 sons, Carl Halle of Keystone Heights and DeVon Halle of Lake Geneva, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren as well as her companion, Jim McHale.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 21, 2016 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Chaplain Ricky Bybee officiating.
